Amanda Mitchell

Amanda P. “Mandy” Mitchell, 83 died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 in Community Hospital, Anderson.

Mandy had been a resident of the Summit Convalescent Center for past few years. She was born in Anderson on Aug. 11, 1928 and was the daughter of Leeondo and Geneva (Utterback) Reed.

Mandy was a member of the First Christian Church, Alexandria and the Smilette Club.

Mandy retired from the Green Thumb and had worked as a sales clerk in several area department stores.

Mandy was a loving Mother and Grandmother. She always made sure that the needs of her children and especially her grandchildren came first even before her own needs. Her family was everything to her and she enjoyed every minute spent with them.

She was an avid sports fan. She supported her Alexandria Tigers by attending almost every game. She also was avid Indiana Hoosiers and Chicago Bears fan.

Her survivors include her Son, Mike (Debbie) Mitchell, four Daughters, Brenda (Garry) Brown, June (Bill) Taylor, Penny (Tim) Brown and Vickie Hill. A Brother, Ray Reed. Also surviving are her Grandchildren, Misty McNeil, Katie Monahan, Kelly Marchand, Ronnie Bott, Joshua Brown, Deanna Bott, Megan Hill, Brandy Trotter, Jacob Brown, Brick Jackson, Bryce Brown, Jordan Brown. Step-Grandchildren, Shane Conwell, Tyson Conwell and Shane Taylor. And 25 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two Brothers, Jerry and Sam Reed, three Sisters, Alice Alex,Sandy Montgomeryand Betty Mc Cune.

Mandy’s family would like to extend a special thank you her extended family at the Summit Convalescent Center.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Dr. Norman Parr officiating. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery, Alexandria. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
