Betty Rowland

Betty L Rowland, 79 of Alexandria died Sunday, Mar. 13, 2016 in Bethany Point Health Care, Anderson after an extended illness.
Betty was born on July 8, 1936 in Pennington Gap, Va. And was the daughter of Elmer and Duskie (Bailey) Greene. On Feb. 14, 1955 she married Thomas “Sonny” Rowland who preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 2003.
Betty coached softball in the Cunningham Little League and was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church of Alexandria. Betty had been employed at the Bradford Nursing Home and the Elder House Nursing Care both in Alexandria.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her children, Stephen (Theresa) Rowland, Doug Rowland, Greg (Teresa) Rowland, Matt (Stacie) Rowland , Mark Rowland and Tamara Rowland, three brothers, Arthur (Linda) Greene, Richard (Kim) Greene and Jim (Carolyn) Greene, six sisters, Wanda Sue Reehling, Gerri Owens, Janice Pershing, Regina Womack, Nancy Cook and Elizabeth (Tom) House. She is also survived by grandchildren, Clint (Janelle) Rowland, Scott (Carrie) Rowland, Stephanie (Aaron) Baledge, Duskie Rowland, Tanner Rowland, Hannah Rowland, Courtney Rowland, Karac Aynes, Taylor Sanderson, Sarah Rowland, Monica (Jessie) Minteer, Zachary Rowland, Tristan Rowland, Caitlin Rowland, Noah Rowland, Maddee Rowland and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sonny and brother, Harold Greene.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Mar. 17, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria with Rev. Jerry Young officiating. Burial will follow in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Mar. 16, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Christian Congregation Church, 11015 N 300 E, Alexandria , IN 46001 or in care of the funeral home.
