David Scott Johnson, 48, of Alexandria, passed away on Friday, March 13th, 2020, surrounded by family at Community Hospital in Anderson after a sudden illness.

Scott was born on August 9, 1971, in Anderson, Indiana, to John Johnson and Cassandra (Lewis) Johnson Maynard and has resided in the Alexandria area for most of his life. He attended Frankton schools. He had worked as a contractor for many years and was most recently employed as a maintenance worker for an apartment complex. Scott had a gentle, loving heart and was known for his love of animals. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Above all, he especially loved watching his kids’ sporting events. His sense of humor, laugh, and smile will be so greatly missed.

Scott is survived by his parents, John “Potsie” Johnson and Cassandra (Barney) Maynard, all of Alexandria, his loving girlfriend of 10 years, Jamie Landis, of Alexandria, his daughter, Haley Michelle Johnson, of Muncie, and son, Cole Scott Johnson, of Alexandria. He is also survived by his sister, Wendy (Frank) Lamberjack, of Alexandria, and brothers Chet Maynard, of Bloomington, and Guy Maynard, of Indianapolis, and Jamie’s kids, Joshua and Cayla Morgan. Also surviving are his four-legged friend, Buddy, and many nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Elizabeth Lewis, and paternal grandparents, Ferrol and Ruthie Johnson, and several aunts and uncles.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Wednesday, Mar. 18, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Whetsel Funeral Service located at 1503 S Park Ave., Alexandria. Private family interment services will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Madison Co. Humane Society, 2219 Crystal St., Anderson, IN 46012 or in care of the funeral home.
At the request of the family, if you are feeling ill, please do not attend due to the latest public health issues.
