John Widener

ALEXANDRA: John Eugene “Doc” Widener a lifelong Alexandria resident was called into the next life on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2018 at his residence after an extended illness.
John was born in Alexandria on June 28, 1937 and was the son of John Elmer and Velara (Malston) Widener. On Dec. 30, 1981 He married Marea L. (Dowden) Widener who preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 2014.
John was a simple man, who enjoyed gardening and a love for animals. He served his country in the United States Navy. He retired from Westinghouse and ABB after 30 years of service.
He is survived by his children, Ramona (Belinda) Widener, Rose (Ronnie) Daniels, John Eric(Melody) Widener, Daniel (Mary) Widener, Kelly (Gabriel) Price; his sister, Velara Smith; his brothers, Dale and Paul Widener. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marea, brother, Kenneth Widener, and his sister Mary Lu Widener.
A private family celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family
