Leona Auler

Leona Irene Auler, 94 of Alexandria died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at her residence after an extended illness while surrounded by her loving family.
Leona was born is Alexandria on Oct. 1, 1922 and was the daughter of George and Ethel (Silvey) Benge. On Dec. 14, 1942 she married George H. W. Auler who preceded her in death on June 1, 2001.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior, the Ladies Aide Society, Senior Guild and volunteered at the Alexandria ERF.
Leona was loving and caring mother and grandmother who always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her children, Charles (Marsha) Auler of Tipton, Jerry (Diane) Auler and Joyce (Randy) Johnson both of Alexandria, a sister, Shirley Brotherton of Anderson. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kristen (Mike) McCorkhill, Michelle Woods, Jason Auler, Brad Auler, Brent (Anita) Auler, Jeremy (Shelly) Johnson, Marty Johnson, great-grandchildren, McKenzie McCorkhill, Breanna McCorkhill, , Layton Johnson, Colton Johnson, Mason Woods, TaylorAuler, Jarren Auler and Peyton Auler
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Auler, brothers Jay Benge, Harry Benge, sisters, Lucille Shoemaker, Betty Mottweiler and Murlie Remington.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior, Alexandria with Rev. Kal Rissman officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery. Friends may call at Whetsel Funeral Service, Alexandria on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior, 309 W Washington St., Alexandria, IN 46001 or in care of the funeral home.
