Mary Whybrew

October 8, 1919 — April 23, 2012

Mary Jeanette Whybrew, 92 of Parker City and formerly of Eaton passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2012 in IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital with her daughter and son-in-law at her side.

Mary was born Oct. 8, 1919 in Blackford Co., Indiana and was the daughter of Herbert and Fanchon (Halpin) Jarnigan. She attended Millgrove School where in the first grade she met the love of her life John Lewis Whybrew, they were married Nov. 3, 1941. She graduated from Eaton High School in 1937 and lived the majority of her life in the Eaton area.

Mary cared deeply for people, and had the gift of hospitality and loved to entertain, always surrounding herself with family and friends. She planned large and small gathering for those she held dear. She was a 75 year member of Union Chapel Ministries and a 60 year member of the North Niles Home Economics Club.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Judy Yates (husband Bill) of Muncie, IN, her son, Danny Whybrew of Pendleton, IN. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Bambi Riggs, of Marion, Christa Hensley (husband Greg) of Muncie, Sarah Jones (husband Jeremy) of Indianapolis, five great-grandchildren and one on the way, special cousin, Lucille Schwerdtfeger of Estero, FL and several special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years John, her parents and a sister, Dorothy Smith.

A service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. in Union Chapel Ministries, 4622 N. Broadway, Muncie, IN with Rev. Gregg Parris officiating. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Family and friends are invited to call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Union Chapel Ministries, 4622 N. Broadway, Muncie, IN or in care of the funeral home.

Mary’s family is grateful to Angie Fritz and caring staff of Park Place, Parker Health Care, Parker City, IN for their love and care of Mary over the past three years; also her very special Dr. Rob Suer who cared for her over the past 30 years, the wonderful staff of the MDU 4th floor South Tower of IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for their extraordinary care of Mary during last days.
