Patricia “Pat” A. Stephenson, 59 of rural Dunkirk died Saturday, November 17, 2012 after a courageous two month battle with cancer while surrounded by her loving family.
Pat was born in Hartford City, IN on September 1, 1953 and was the daughter of Walter and Betty (Besser) Voght, Jr. On April 20, 1979 she married James P. Stephenson.
To Those I Love, If I should ever leave you whom I love, To go along the Silent Way, grieve not, Nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside your there. I’d come-I’d come, could I but find a way! But would not tears and grief be barriers? And when you hear a song or see a bird I loved, please do not let the thought of me be sad…..For I am loving you just as I always have. You were so good to me! There are so many things I wanted still to do-so many things to say to you.. Remember that I did not fear… It was just leaving you that was so hard to face… We cannot see beyond … But this I know: I loved you so—‘twas heaven here you! By: Isla Paschal Richardson.
Left to cherish Pat’s ,memory is her husband of 33 years, James P. Stephenson, her parents, Walter and Betty Voght-Hartford City, IN, four sons, Ryan Stephenson-Alexandria, VA., Matthew (Mandy) Stephenson-Huntington, IN, James (Bethany) Stephenson-Portland, IN and Joshua (Jennifer) Stephenson-Albany, IN; one daughter, Jennifer (Gene) Hummel-Portland, IN; a sister, Julie (Stu) Terrell-Hartford City, IN., two brothers, Sam (Donna) Voght-Portland, IN , Tim Voght-Indianapolis. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephew, aunts and uncles.
Pat was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Voght.
A service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Church of the Nazarene, 226 E. Center St., Dunkirk, IN with Rev. Dan Coffman and Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery, Dunkirk. Friends are invited to call at the church on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. And one hour prior to the service on Tuesday
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the Donor’s choice.
