Patty Merritt

ANDERSON: Patty L Merritt, 81 of Anderson passed from this life on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 at her residence after an extended illness while surrounded by her loving family.

Patty was born in Anderson, IN on March 9, 1941 and was the daughter of Charles and Stella (Gustin) Boyer. She was married for 58 years to David F. Merritt who preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 2015.

She was retired from Edgewater Woods Nursing Care where she served as a Nurse’s Aide. She had also been employed at Country Manor Nursing Care.

Patty was an avid Bingo player and always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her loving grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeffery (Sue) Merritt, Teresa King, Deborah (Brian) Howell, Betty (Alan) McIntyre; two sisters, Linda Merritt and Marjorie Thompson. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and special caretaker, Lori Bunch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, David F. Merritt and sister, Clima Carr.

Funeral services for Patty will be held on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, 1503 S Park Ave., Alexandria, IN. with Rev. Richard Gregg officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be on Monday, Jan. 16, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Patty’s family wishes to extend to their gratitude to their mother’s caretaker, Lori Bunch.
