Alexandria

Cynthia Anne “Cindy” (Rybka) Conrad, 67, passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Monday, November 10.

Cindy was born and raised in Seattle, Washington before moving her family to Alexandria in the early 1990s. Her daughter, Callie, is the light of her life, and Cindy always had an active role in providing the best for her. Cindy was involved with everything from snacks at show choir rehearsals, to planning parties and pranks with Callie and her friends. Cindy also put her heart and soul into serving the youth of Alexandria as the food service director at St Mary’s School. Her meticulously handmade decorations, festive dress-up days, and classic rock music all served to make lunchtime special and memorable for hundreds of students over the course of 22 years until her retirement in 2023.

Cindy’s vibrance, creativity and artistic nature saturated every part of her life. She enjoyed music, movies, puzzles, and experimenting with arts and crafts. A fun-loving and playful soul - many of her favorite adventures were spent exploring Disney World with loved ones, especially her daughter Callie. There was never a dull moment spent with Cindy, whose gift for storytelling, hospitality, and contagious laughter, made every room feel warm and every person feel welcome.

Cindy was preceded in death by her father John Rybka, her nephew Justin Meier, and her mother Marlene Duncan, known fondly as “Grandie” to family and friends.

Cindy is survived by her daughter Callie Marsh (Conrad) and son-in-law Zack Marsh of Alexandria, bonus daughter Amy “Ames” Etchison, her “three sons” Guy Maynard, Chet Maynard, and Noah Dockrey, her sister Damita Meier of Chesterfield, her niece Shelena Helvey of Seattle, her special retirement “bestie” Chris Coppock, and her beloved cat Rubbert. She also leaves behind many friends, loved ones, and countless former students - all of whom will cherish happy memories with her.
