Delores Ellen Swaim

Delores Ellen Swaim, 98 of rural Boone Twp. passed to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Bethany Point Health Care, Anderson.

Delores was born in Alexandria on December 11, 1925, and was the daughter of John and Olive (Grimm) McMahan. On June 8, 1944, she married Harold P. Swaim who preceded her in death on February 14, 2012.

Delores had a long career at the Anderson Banking Co. where she worked as a bookkeeper in the Treasurer’s office for 20 years before her retirement.

She was a member of the Community Church of Frankton, the Help Your Neighbor Club and the Eastern Star.

Delores was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, and always enjoyed being with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Kent Swaim, her daughter Karen (Rick) Autrey, her two grandsons, Jeffery Autrey and Bradley (Naomi) Autrey, sisters-in-law, Katie McMahan, and Donnis Kirkpatrick. Also surviving are several nieces.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Loren McMahan, Forest McMahan, sister, Isabelle Shinabery, brothers-in-law, Art Watts and John Kirkpatrick and sister-in-law, Opal Watts.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, 1503 S Park Ave., Alexandria with Rev. Bob Preusz officiating.  A burial will follow in Forestville Cemetery, Summitville.  A visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial gifts to the Community Church of Frankton, P.O. Box 338, Frankton, IN 46044 or in care of the funeral home.
