Janet C Maddox

Janet Maddox, 90, of Alexandria, passed away on April 13, 2026, at Summit Health and Living in Summitville, Indiana.

Janet was born on March 21, 1936, in Elwood, Indiana, to Charles and Martha (Conard) Tutorow. She was raised by her Uncle James and Aunt Edrie Tutorow, who held a special place in her life. Janet graduated from Alexandria High School in 1955. Soon after high school, she married Harold E. Johnson. He preceded her in death in 1963. She went on to work as a clerk, spending 30 dedicated years with Kmart.

Janet enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved playing bingo and was always ready for a good time with family and friends, especially when it came to their jokingly named "bingo club." She also had a special love for cats over the years, and her cat Nikki held a particularly special place in her heart.

Janet will be remembered by her daughter, Charlotte Brummett of Elwood; her son, Randy (Susan) Johnson of Alexandria; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha Tutorow; her Uncle James Tutorow; her Aunt Edrie Tutorow; her husband, Harold E. Johnson; and her infant daughter, Dawn Johnson.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Whetsel Funeral Service, 1503 South Park Avenue, Alexandria, Indiana. A service to celebrate Janet's life will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Private cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Whetsel Funeral Service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Vinson Memorial Park in Summitville, Indiana.
