Josephine Hensley

Josephine (Joey) J Hensley, 74 of Daleville went to meet her Lord and Savior on Aug. 23, 2017 at her residence after an extended illness.
Joey was born on Sept. 30, 1942 in Indianapolis IN, and was the daughter of Harley and Madlin (Gann) Sanders. On Dec. 4, 1988 she married Paul Hensley who preceded her in death on June 6, 2010.
Joey was a home maker most of her life, but had work as a nurse’s aide in earlier years. She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Chrch and New Life Christian Church both of Anderson.
Joey wasn’t only our sweet Momma, she was our friend and confidant who we could share anything. She was an amazing, loving and thoughtful Mom and Grandma. She made hats for the homeless people of our community and was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Janice (Tom ) Naselroad, Susie (Roger) Dishman, Connie (Vaughn) Walker, Brenda (Donnie) Ely and step-daughter, Tammy (John) Shock; step-sons Tim (Mary) Hensley, Keith (Susie) Hensley, Jimmie Swafford; brothers, Robert (Jean) Sanders, Rusty (Alice) Sanders, Mike (Judy) Richardson, Mark (Kara) Richardson and a sister-in-law, Drenda Sanders. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Paul Hensley, brother, Bill Sanders and a grandson, Joshua Dishman.
A Celebration of Joey’s life will be Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 815 E School St., Anderson with Rev. Matt Boldiszar, Rev. Johnny Cawthon and Chaplin Vaughn Walker officiating. Friends may call the church on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
