Max (Maximus, Mack Mack, Maxie Jay) Slinker passed away on the morning of March 28, 2025. In June 2017, “Gotcha Date”, John picked Max up from a couple who couldn’t keep him. John was told that Max’s front teeth were ground down due to him trying to chew through the chain. Max immediately jumped in the truck. He rode sitting up taking in all the sites and sticking his head out of the window. When they arrived home, Max knew this was his forever home.
Max loved being outside whether it was playing tug of war, running around the yard, playing with sticks, or laying in the sun on the deck. He enjoyed butt scratches, getting treats, and sleeping in his recliner, Max’s recliner. His favorite food was whatever we were eating. He disliked his feet being touched, getting baths, and when Louise would bark. He would hide in the shower.
Our favorite memories of Max are of him letting us put silly hats on him, him saying “Hello Momma”, and the first day he was with us, he got out of the fence and took a self-guided tour around the neighborhood. He did find his way back home.
Max is survived by his human parents, John and Susan; doggy sisters, Ruby and Louise.
Max was preceded in death by his doggy brother, Buddy and his favorite human, Memaw.
Max will be greatly missed by all who loved him so much.
Bud & Susan Whetsel are honored to care for Max and serve his family.
