Norma J Lainhart

Apr 13, 1935 — Aug 6, 2026

Norma Lainhart, age 91, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Alexandria Health and Rehabilitation in Alexandria, Indiana.

Norma was born on April 13, 1935, in Anderson, Indiana, to Oscar and Maudie (Watson) Porter. She attended Anderson High School and married George Lainhart on January 1, 1985.

Norma was a member of both the Alexandria Eagles and the VFW. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and was known for her fun-loving spirit. In her younger years, she loved dancing, and throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening, butterflies, decorating for every holiday and special occasion, and listening to Elvis.

Norma had a special love for animals. She dearly loved her dog, Sissy, so much that she later named another dog after her. She also loved her dog, Wiley, and her cat, Jasper. Norma even had two geese, including one she had to keep in line with a stick.

Norma was fashionable, full of life, and always enjoyed a good time. She loved visiting with those she cared about, sharing a cold beer, and making memories with the people around her. Most importantly, Norma had a relationship with God and found peace in the end.

Norma is survived by her sons, Robert Stohler and Daniel (Kristie) Stohler; son-in-law, Wendell "Gene" Cawthorn; grandchildren, Karrie (Jeremy) Grimes, Michael (Kelly) Moore, Angie (Paul) Bivens, Mandy Moore, Jennifer Moore, Chris Moore, Zackary Stohler, Tabitha (Michael) Mahaney, Chelsea (William) Weaver, Chandler Stohler, Devin (Adam) Inglis, Jacie Stohler, Kaleb Stohler, and Brandon Cox; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Maudie Porter; her husband, George Lainhart; daughters, Maudrey Cawthorn and Deborah Sailors; great-great-grandson, Oliver Little; eight brothers; and two sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Karrie and Robert for the excellent care they provided to Norma.
