Thomas Kilgore

Thomas L. “Tom” Kilgore, 87 of Summitville died Sunday, Apr. 2, 2023 in Community Hospital after extended illness.

Tom was born in Summitville on Dec. 29, 1935 and was the son of Arthur and Gladys (Inglis) Kilgore. He graduated from Summitville High School and was married to Lois (Wampler) Kilgore on Jun. 4, 1978 in Summitville.

Tom was retired from General Motors after 15 years as a foreman. After his retirement he was employed for 20 years at Armstrong Hardware in Alexandria.

He was a member of the Vermillion Friends Church.

Tom always loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Hoosiers. Tom and Lois loved to travel with their good friends, Diane and Dallas Curtis, they traveled all across the country together.

Those left to cherish Tom’s memory are his wife of 45 years Lois, there children, Mickey Kilgore, Lora (Bob) England and Tracy Hart; son-in-law Rudy Law; his grandchildren, Craig Kilgore, Melissa Combs, Heather Johnson, Clarissa Hart, Thomas Hart, James Law, Stephen Hunt, Jessica Brumfield, Veronica England, Joshua Basey and Madison Hart. Also surviving are 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and special friends, Dallas and Diane Curtis and Judy Martin.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brett Kilgore, a daughter, Tabatha Law, a Brother, Rex Kilgore and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Kilgore and Andrea Dunford.

Services for Tom will be Thursday, Apr. 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, Alexandria with Rev. Fred Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
