It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Vickie Ann Wise, age 67, of Summitville, who departed this life on Friday, September 5, 2025, at her home after a brief illness. Vickie's warmth and kindness touched the hearts of everyone she met, and her legacy of love will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
Born on April 3, 1958, in Anderson, Indiana, she was the beloved daughter of Weldon and Mary (Porter) Metcalf. Vickie was a proud member of the Alexandria-Monroe High School, class of 1976. On February 11, 1989, she married the love of her life, Lawrence “Charlie” Wise, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter.
Vickie dedicated many years of her life to the Madison-Grant School Corporation as the kitchen supervisor, where her nurturing spirit nourished not only bodies but also souls. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone through as an Avon sales representative for countless years, always bringing joy to those around her with her vibrant energy.
As a devoted member of the Summitville Baptist Church and the Van Buren Twp. Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Vickie embodied a spirit of community and service. She embraced life with her many cherished hobbies, including crafting, crocheting, completing puzzles, and tending to her beloved flowers, all of which reflected her creative nature and her love for beauty in the world.
Vickie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She found true happiness in the moments spent with her family, especially her adored granddaughters, Abigail and Rylie. Those special times will forever remain etched in their hearts as a testament to the deep bonds of love that Vickie nurtured.
She leaves behind her cherished husband of 36 years, Charlie Wise; her children, Scott (Jenny), Martin, and Kristena (Tim) Simpson; and her precious granddaughters, Abigail and Rylie. Also mourning her loss are her sister, Peggy Woolridge; her godson, Matthew Thurston; her niece and nephew; and a host of cousins and friends who were touched by her life.
Vickie was preceded in death by her loving parents, Weldon and Mary Metcalf, as well as her brother, Terry Metcalf, and sister, Sandra Metcalf. Their spirits will welcome her with open arms.
A service celebrating Vickie’s remarkable life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Whetsel Funeral Service, Park Ave. Chapel, Alexandria, with Bud Whetsel officiating. Interment will follow at Vinson Memorial Park Cemetery, Summitville. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
The family requests that memorial gifts be directed to the Van Buren Twp. Fire Dept. Fireworks Fund at 813 E. Mills St., Summitville, Indiana, 46070 or in care of the funeral home.
We, Bud and Susan, are honored to care for Vickie and to serve the Wise family during this difficult time. May her memory inspire us to share love and kindness in our own lives, just as she did.
