Wanda Rose Muey

Feb 18, 1928 — Oct 5, 2026

Wanda Rose Muey, "Grandma Great" or "GG", of Alexandria, IN, passed away at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis, IN, on October 5, 2026, at the age of 98 after a brief illness.

Wanda was born on February 18, 1928, to Albert and Pearl Baker. She graduated from Alexandria High School in 1946 and resided in Alexandria for most of her life. She and William "Bill" Muey wed on January 18,1957 and were married for over 50 years.

Wanda had many interests, including bowling for over 40 years at the Norwood Bowl. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking and baking, listening to religious music, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a past member of the Alexandria Lady Elks, Alexandria Eagles Auxiliary, Omega Nu Tau Sorority, and was a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Alexandria Community Church. Wanda was an avid reader of books, the Alexandria Times-Tribune, and the Anderson Herald Bulletin. As a lifelong supporter of Alexandria Tiger athletes, you would see her at numerous volleyball and basketball games and track and field events-virtually everything her grandchildren participated in. She also enjoyed cheering for the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Fever.

Upon her husband Bill's retirement, they made their second home at Burton Park on the Manistee River in Mesick, MI, from early spring to late summer for many years. While there, she loved fishing, mushroom hunting, searching for Petoskey rocks, going on boat rides, and taking sightseeing excursions around that beautiful area. She also made several jaunts to Florida and Tennessee over the years to spend time with her children, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Above all, Wanda loved her family and friends, and her life's joy was to spend time with them.

Survivors include her loving children Roger (Carol) Bennett of Westfield, IN; Alan (Vickie) Muey of Anderson, IN; David (Amy) Muey of Alexandria, IN; and Bretta (Mike) Hull of Alexandria, IN. Beloved grandchildren include Bree (Chad) Pittman of Westfield, IN; Kyle Bennett of Fishers, IN; Dean (Nick) Muey of Muncie, IN; Katie (Zach) Helvey of Kingsport, TN; and Alan M. Muey of Anderson, IN. Loving great-grandchildren include Bryce and Carson Pittman, Hannah Bennett, Blake and Kori Helvey, and Tye, Layla, and Raven Muey.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Russell W. Muey Sr. and Leona Muey; husband, Bill Muey; son and daughter-in-law, Damon ("Joe") and Sue Bennett; brother, Kenneth Baker; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Pat Baker; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russell Jr. and Julia Muey; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and June Sayre.

In addition, the family wants to express gratitude to the Community East Hospital 3rd and 5th floor staff for the very compassionate care they provided.
